Job overview

We are seeking a dynamic occupational therapist to work in the Acute Adult Inpatient Unit at the Chorley within our team delivering care to service users who are experiencing mental health problems. The successful candidate will be working alongside senior occupational therapists and therapy assistants as part of providing an occupational perspective to a well-established multi-disciplinary team.

Within the remit of the Recovery Model you will provide occupational therapy assessment and intervention to service users with a range of complex mental health needs. Together you will devise individualised care plans which place recovery through occupation at the heart of the interventions provided. You will have an exciting opportunity to be part of developing a comprehensive group therapy programme as well as chance to cultivate professional skills through involvement in clinical and first line managerial processes.

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to have well developed interpersonal skills to establish and maintain relationships with other staff within wider services where service users are linked in.  You will seek to establish and maintain useful communication with relevant carers/family /friends negotiating appropriate levels of involvement through agreement with the service, and remaining sensitive to the particular needs of the individual and his/her carers.

The successful candidate will receive regular professional supervision from the Senior Occupational Therapist and line management will be via the Team Manager. Learning and development needs will be identified through the Personal Development Process and there will be a wide range of other learning opportunities available through local and Trust wide training and best practice forums.
