Theatre Support Worker

Band 3

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our dedicated Theatre Team as a Theatre Support Worker.

We are looking for motivated, caring and enthusiastic individuals who are committed to providing high-quality patient care within a busy and dynamic operating theatre environment.

We currently have two vacancies available:

  • 1 Full-Time post (37.5 hours per week)
  • 1 Part-Time post (hours to be discussed at interview)

Please indicate within your application whether you wish to be considered for the full-time position, part-time position, or both.

Working as part of the multidisciplinary team, you will play an important role in supporting the perioperative care of patients and ensuring the smooth running of theatre services across a range of surgical specialities.

Main duties of the job

As an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, you will work alongside Registered Nurses, Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs) and Theatre Team Leaders to help deliver safe, effective and compassionate care to patients undergoing surgery. No two days are the same, and you will play an important role in ensuring our theatres run efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of patient care.

Your responsibilities will include supporting patients throughout their perioperative journey, assisting with patient transfers, preparing theatre environments and specialist equipment, undertaking circulating duties during procedures, acting as a runner between theatre areas, collecting blood products, supporting stock management, and helping to maintain a clean, safe and organised clinical environment. You will work across Theatre, Anaesthetic and Recovery areas, supporting a range of surgical specialities and contributing to the smooth running of the department.

We are looking for individuals who are caring, reliable and adaptable, with excellent communication skills and a positive approach to teamwork. In return, you will join a welcoming team committed to supporting your development and providing opportunities to grow your career within the NHS.

If you are passionate about patient care, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and want to make a real difference to patients and their families, we would love to hear from you.
