Rota Co-Ordinator - Women & Children's

NHS AfC: Band 4

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Women & Children's Division for a highly organised and motivated Rota Co-ordinator to support the management of medical staffing across two rota areas: Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Paediatrics & Neonatal.

Working closely with resident doctors, consultants and management teams, the post holder will be responsible for coordinating and maintaining medical rotas, ensuring safe staffing levels, managing leave and absence, arranging locum cover, and supporting trainee doctors to meet their educational and training requirements.

This is a busy and rewarding role requiring excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and respond effectively to changing service demands. The successful candidate will build strong working relationships across multidisciplinary teams and play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care.

This is a fixed-term position for 12 months and presents an excellent opportunity for an individual with administrative experience, ideally within a healthcare or medical staffing environment, to develop their skills within a supportive and dynamic team. [

Main duties of the job

The Rota Co-ordinator will lead and co-ordinate medical rotas, whilst working in a supportive environment.  The role has been developed to improve and support the working lives of our clinical teams with respect to the following:

·       Management of on-call clinical rota

·       Management of rota to ensure resident doctors in training attend education events to meet training requirements.

·        Allocation of doctors on wards, in clinics, theatres and elective caesarean section lists.

Allocating medical staff to additional theatre lists and clinics as required

·      To work independently utilising own skills and initiative without the need for supervision, in an organised, efficient and effective manner to maximise use of own time. Post holder is expected to be flexible in their approach to meet the needs of the service.

·       Work areas will include:

Providing day-to-day administrative duties aligned with the role including the monitoring of annual and study leave, sickness absence and timely meetings with educational supervisors.

Offering support and building excellent working relationships to medical teams.
