Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP)

8a

Job overview

Join Connect as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner in our Adult Eating Disorders Inpatient Unit.

Connect is the lead provider of specialist adult eating disorder services across West Yorkshire and one of the country’s leading NHS Eating Disorder Provider Collaboratives.

We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) to join our inpatient team and play a key role in delivering specialist care to adults experiencing eating disorders.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the region’s leading adult eating disorder service where your clinical expertise, ideas and initiative will make a real difference.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to the continued development of our service, help shape how care is delivered, and work alongside colleagues who share a commitment to providing high-quality, person-centred care.

At Connect, we believe in continually learning, developing and finding better ways to support the people who use our services. We are looking for someone who shares this commitment, enjoys working collaboratively, and is enthusiastic about bringing their skills and experience to a specialist area of care.

To be eligible for this role, you must hold an Advanced Clinical Practitioner qualification and a Non-Medical Prescriber qualification.

Main duties of the job

As the Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) for Adult Eating Disorders, you will play a key role in delivering and shaping high quality, specialist care for adults with eating disorders across community and inpatient services. As a senior clinician within Connect, you will combine advanced clinical practice with professional leadership, service development and a commitment to improving outcomes for the people we support.

This is an opportunity to use your clinical expertise and leadership skills to make a meaningful difference, influence how care is delivered, and help shape the future of specialist eating disorder services across West Yorkshire.

Working in line with the four pillars of Advanced Clinical Practice: clinical practice, leadership, facilitation of learning, and evidence, research and development — you will have a varied and influential role, balancing direct patient care with opportunities to develop colleagues, improve clinical pathways and drive innovation.

Working for our organisation

The Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT) is the main provider of Mental Health and Learning Disability services in Leeds. We also provide specialist inpatient services in York and some highly specialised services across the country. As a teaching trust with strong links to local universities, we are a centre of excellence for teaching, research and development.

There are many benefits of working for LYPFT including fantastic employee wellbeing support, 27 - 33 days annual leave, flexible working and remote working arrangements, the NHS Pension Scheme, coaching, support and opportunities for career development and training and education support alongside a range of exclusive discounts and payment schemes including for cars, extra leave days and more NHS Discount Offers.

We also have a bank department, offering variety of roles in nursing, allied health professions, healthcare support worker and administration clerical. Permanent employees are automatically added to bank.

Applicants should be aware that individuals requiring a visa to work in the UK, the Trust only provides sponsorship for registered healthcare practitioner roles (this does not include Healthcare Support Workers). This is an essential requirement, and the Trust is unable to offer you a role if you do not meet Trust requirements for sponsorship and Home Office requirements for a visa.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will lead nursing assessment and treatment for people with highly complex needs, supporting safe, effective and evidence-based care. Your clinical responsibilities will include referral triage, assessment, discharge planning and physical health management, helping to ensure that people with eating disorders can access appropriate, timely and coordinated care.

Alongside your clinical work, you will provide professional leadership for the nursing workforce, working closely with clinical, professional and operational leads to strengthen nursing practice, support the development of junior colleagues and contribute to an effective multidisciplinary team. You will work collaboratively with service managers and other senior clinicians to promote high standards of care and continuous improvement across the service.

You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the strategic development of Connect’s service model, helping to design and improve clinical pathways across both inpatient and community settings. Working in partnership with colleagues, commissioners and services across the Integrated Care System (ICS), you will help strengthen collaborative approaches to care and support the development and implementation of new models of service delivery.

Evidence-based practice and continuous learning will be central to your role. You will lead and contribute to relevant clinical audits and research, using evidence and learning to inform nursing practice, improve the quality of care and support ongoing service development.
This is a varied and rewarding opportunity for an experienced ACP who wants to combine specialist clinical practice with leadership and innovation, supporting both the people who use our services and the colleagues who care for them.

We recruit people based on their values and qualifications (where required) and believe that their lived experience is an advantage, this means that together we are as diverse as the communities we care for.

Simply put, when we employ caring people who act with integrity and have the right skills, we can give those with mental health challenges, learning disabilities and neurodiversity high-quality care and support to live fulfilling lives, and make our staff feel purposeful, happy and valued.
