Employer heading
Diagnostic Radiography Practice Educator
AfC Band 7
Job overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly team, and shape the learning experience of a wide range of learners, from T-Level students and work experience placements to undergraduates and postgraduate students studying diagnostic radiography. However, the primary focus of the role will be supporting our many undergraduate diagnostic radiography students throughout their clinical placements.
You will work closely with both university partners to coordinate practical learning opportunities, support the delivery of programme requirements and ensure that learners receive fair and equal education and pastoral support throughout their placement.
The role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution across the learner journey, from student selection and interview process, placement planning, through to practical mentorship, assessment and professional development.
A key part of the post will be bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. You will mentor learners to develop their technical skills, clinical reasoning, professional confidence and understanding of safe, effective, patient centred care.
Through visible leadership, collaboration and educational innovation, you will help foster an environment in which learners feel supported, challenged and empowered to reach their full potential. Creating a successful transition into qualified professional practice.
Main duties of the job
As practice educator, you will play a leading role in the coordinating, developing and delivery of clinical education for students within the radiology department. Working collaboratively with stakeholders, colleagues and the wider Trust education team, your role will be to ensure that learners receive consistent, structured and supportive clinical training.
The undergraduate course requires students to complete approximately 1,200 hours a year (higher education institute dependent) of clinical placement. Students on the master’s course will complete more, due to the nature of the course being completed over two years.
We welcome students form City St George’s university London, including those based at both the Tooting and Clarkenwell Campuses, and the University of Brighton. We also support T-Level students, work experience learners, elective placements and post graduate students undertaking masters level radiography programs and hope to one day include an apprentice programme in diagnostic radiography.
