We are inviting applications for a Highly Specialist Family & Systemic Psychotherapist to join our dynamic and compassionate multi-disciplinary team at NWAS, BCUHB’s Tier 4 Highly Specialist CAMHS Service working with the Kestrel Inpatient Ward and the Kite – Intensive Community Support Team in beautiful North Wales.

This is more than a job, it’s a chance to be part of a forward-thinking, evidence-based service that places families at the heart of recovery. You’ll have the opportunity to develop the role and explore joint working with other highly Specialist Family & Systemic colleagues across North Wales where we have a thriving Community of Practice. Support is available from experienced professionals including the Consultant Nurse/Family & Systemic Psychotherapist and the Consultant Family & Systemic Psychotherapist. Please note that there is no requirement for an original registration eligible under the Mental Health Measure (Wales) for this post.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Relevant degree
  • A recognised post graduate Family Therapy or equivalent qualification at level of Masters or higher academic award
  • UKCP registration as a family/systemic Psychotherapist
  • Highly developed knowledge of systemic theory and practice.
  • Knowledge of research design and methodology as practised within the field of family therapy
  • Knowledge of legislation and its implications for both clinical practice and professional management in relation to this client group i.e. children
  • Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the UKCP/AFT
Desirable criteria
  • Additional relevant academic and/or accredited therapeutic qualification
  • A professional qualification in a relevant regulated profession eligible under the Mental Health Measure (Wales) 2010 e.g. Nursing, Social Work, Clinical Psychology

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Substantial assessed experience of working as a registered family/systemic psychotherapist
  • Experience of implementing evidence based family interventions
  • Experience in relevant regulated profession e.g. nursing, social work or clinical psychology
  • Experience of taking full clinical responsibility for clients’ care, with experience of co-ordinating care within the context of multi-disciplinary care-planning
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working directly with children and young people
  • Direct experience of Care Coordination under the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010
  • Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision

Aptitude and Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Highly developed skills in systemic practice
  • Ability to develop, manage and co ordinate family therapy / systemic interviewing
  • Ability to develop, manage and co ordinate training packages (staff and young people)
  • Ability to develop, manage co ordinate and provide consultation to other professionals
  • Ability to work within an evidence based framework
  • Ability to contain and work with organisational stress and ability to “hold” the stress of others
  • Ability to work with highly distressing clinical material and help others manage this
  • Ability to work in contexts of high complexity and ongoing change
Desirable criteria
  • Ability to speak Welsh.
