Job overview
Working as part of the administration team based in the Audiology Department, Bangor Hospital the postholder will be required to provide clerical duties relating principally to patient administration in support of clinical staff.
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic person to provide an excellent service to patients in a busy out-patient department. It is essential that you have good verbal & written communication skills, excellent customer care and a willingness to help others. You will have experience of a reception environment and will have proficient computer skills.
Main duties of the job
To provide comprehensive clerical support within the Audiology Department including supervision of junior support staff. Provide clerical duties in a busy clinical department, requiring a great deal of multi-tasking. Scheduling patient appointments to ensure that patients are booked in line with local and national Access targets, organising clinics, retrieving and filing case notes, whilst using the Audiology Patient Management System (APMS). Responsible for managing ‘Referral to Treatment’ (RTT) waiting lists
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential criteria
- Good General Standard of Education (e.g. GCSE Maths and English A-C) or Equivalent
- NVQ Level 3 Business administration or equivalent knowledge and experience
Desirable criteria
- Keyboard skills for regular use of computer systems/touch or audio typing
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience of admin procedures in a busy NHS environment
- Experience of progressing, chasing, answering queries and task related non routine activities as detailed in the job description
- Experience of working in an environment under pressure and to deadlines
- Knowledge of hospital systems
- In depth knowledge of a database for making appointments and monitoring waiting times
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft office

- Previous experience of working in a hospital
