Please be advised that there is a temporary top up for Bands 1,2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the top up to the  living wage of £12 per hour - £23,465 per annum. This temporary top up will be in place until  the annual pay uplift for 2024/25 is confirmed

 

Job overview

Glaslyn Ward , Ysbyty Gwynedd has an exciting opportunity to join our Care of the Elderly  ward. We are looking for a Deputy Ward Manager who is highly motivated and enthusiastic to assist in developing the service for the future. 

This is a demanding role that requires commitment and a positive leadership approach towards change. You will have excellent communication skills and high clinical standards with a passion to make a difference for patients and staff alike. Managing and controlling the activities of the ward in an effective and efficient manner.

 

This post is secondment for 10 months due to meet the needs of the service.

Main duties of the job

All applicants are expected to keep with new initiatives and interventions within nursing care. The Deputy Ward Manager is expected to continue the running of the ward in the absence of the ward manager. Providing support with staff appraisals, sickness and training support.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • RGN 1st Level Registration
  • Evidence of further post-reg study
Desirable criteria
  • Diploma In nursing

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Substantial experience at Band 5 Acute Medicine or Care of the Elderly
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience at Band 5

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant clinical practice.
  • Effective delegation skills.
  • Good knowledge of Clinical Governance issues
