Deputy Directorate General Manager

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced operational manager to undertake the role of Deputy Directorate General Manager for the Medical Directorate, in Ysbyty Gwynedd. 

 

Experience of managing complex operational delivery against National targets is essential.  Excellent people and staff management skills are also critical, including the ability to build strong multi-disciplinary clinically lead teams to drive improvements in patient care pathways.

 

The post holder will also be responsible for undertaking analysis and collation of service delivery for a specific specialty across North Wales. This may include capacity and demand, business case planning, workforce planning and BCUHB delivery reports.

 

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

Extensive experience of managing complex operational delivery against National targets is essential.  Significant budget management skills as well as excellent people and staff management are also critical, including the ability to build strong multi-disciplinary clinically led teams to drive improvements in patient care pathways.

The post holder will also be responsible for undertaking analysis and collation of service delivery within the Directorate including   capacity and demand, business case planning, workforce planning and BCUHB delivery reports.

This post is Fixed Term/Secondment for 6 months due to the needs of the service.

Essential criteria
  • Post Graduate (Masters level) degree or career demonstrable experience of working in a highly complex clinical or managerial role with skills directly relevant and transferrable to this role
  • Project management experience with evidence of leading and managing improvement projects in the health and/or social care setting
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development through a combination of courses, in service training and experience

  • Registered Clinician

Essential criteria
  • Extensive knowledge of the NHS
  • Experience within the Healthcare sector at senior manager level including responsibility for strategic planning and budgetary control for a large service and including a diverse range of services.
  • Proven track record of achieving of challenging healthcare targets
  • A clear understanding of demand and capacity analysis and experience in its use in operational management
  • Experience of process redesign and services improvement tools and techniques
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of the use of statistics in the development and assessment of healthcare improvement
  • A sound understanding of the economic, financial and organisational complexities of the NHS at a local and national level
