The salary scale for a Band 3 has been adjusted as part of the NHS Agenda for Change pay award for 2026/2027 and will be implemented in August 2026 backdated to 01 April 2026 where applicable.
Job overview
The Ward Clerk will give efficient clerical assistance to the Unit. The provision of an efficient clerical service is essential to ensure the speedy admission, discharge, and transfer of patients.
By the nature of the duties, the Ward Clerk will be required to maintain strict confidentiality and will be expected to deal with patients and relatives with courtesy and discretion at all times.
The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this post
Main duties of the job
Complete routine ward documentation which will include: training statistics, bank usage statistics, sickness statistics etc.
Type comprehensive nursing reports in preparation for Managers’ Hearings/ Review Tribunals.
Processing of statutory documentation in relation to the Mental Health Act.
Processing of ward documentation e.g. Admissions and Discharges.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Able to demonstrate English and Mathematics to GCSE level or equivalent level
- Welsh language skills Level 3-5
- RSA 1 or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
- NVQ II

- Significant and relevant work/social experience which has utilised skills and knowledge that could be of benefit to the post
- General Clerical Experience

- Previous experience in a care environment
