Job overview

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated person who will provide ward clerk support in the Ablett Unit. The post will be based at Glan Clwyd Hospital, Bodelwyddan, Rhyl, LL18 5UJ.

The successful candidate will have a good standard of education, good communication skills, be able to work on their own initiative and be efficient and organised with their own workload. The candidate should also have keyboard skills and experience of Microsoft Office Package.

A good telephone manner and communication skills are essential. The post holder will be required to demonstrate a professional and sensitive manner and maintain confidentiality at all times. 

Main duties of the job

The Ward Clerk will give efficient clerical assistance to the Unit.  The provision of an efficient clerical service is essential to ensure the prompt admission, discharge and transfer of patients.

By the nature of the duties, the Ward Clerk will be required to maintain strict confidentiality and will be expected to deal with patients and relatives with courtesy and discretion at all times. 

The Ward Clerk is responsible to the Ward Managers in providing an efficient clerical service across the wards. 

The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this post.

Essential criteria
  • Maths / English GCSE grade D or equivalent
  • IT literate with ability to use Outlook and Word
  • Knowledge of confidentiality requirements

  • NVQ II in Administration / Customer Service

Experience
