Please be advised that there is a temporary top up for Bands 1,2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the top up to the living wage of £12 per hour - £23,465 per annum. This temporary top up will be in place until the annual pay uplift for 2024/25 is confirmed
Job overview
Due to the internal promotion of the previous post holder, we are seeking an enthusiastic, forward thinking and patient/service focused Pharmacy Technician to join our existing team within the Pharmacy Production Unit.
To be considered for this role, you will be required to have current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician, and hold previous experience of working within a Production Unit, including aseptic manipulation and preparation.
Applicants are required to possess high level knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice principles and hold the Accredited Checking Technician qualification as well as the BTEC Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills (or equivalent).
Main duties of the job

Duties within the role will include;
- Aseptic manipulation and preparation of a range of products to meet our service demands, including Chemotherapy, Parental Nutrition, CIVAS, extemporaneous doses and Radiopharmaceuticals.
- Supervision and coordination of junior support staff and technicians.
- Completing sessions of pre-process checking, where attention to detail and accuracy skills are paramount.
- Deputising where applicable for the Senior Pharmacy Technician.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent
- Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Services Skills (QCF) or equivalent
- Completed All Wales Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician Qualification
- Completed specialist post-qualification training in aseptic processing of radioisotopes, cytoxic chemotherapy, CIVAS and parenteral nutrition (neonatal and adult)
- Completed Leeds University Aseptic Preparation & Dispensing of Medicines short course (APDM)
- Knowledge, understanding and experience of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and QA and its application to Aseptic processing
- Undertaken training and has experience of aseptic preparation, including intrathecal chemotherapy
- Knowledge of COSSH regulations
- Knowledge of Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2000 (IRMER)
- Undertaken training on Transportation of Radioactive Materials for Radioisotope Users
- Basic knowledge of the therapeutic use of drugs
- Good understanding of operation of hospital pharmacy services
- Good understanding and experience of safe handling and use of cytotoxic drugs and radioisotopes

- Must be able to demonstrate suitable level of post qualification experience in aseptic service
- Experience of working in aseptic/clean room environment
- Experience of working as an Accredited Checking Technician

- Working in hospital pharmacy dispensary services

- Experience of patient-orientated medicines systems
