Job overview

The post holder will provide an efficient high quality typing and administration service to support the medical secretarial team. Support the team in the management of patient’s medical case notes and effective filing system and supporting the patients along the defined patient pathway.

Main duties of the job

High levels of customer service and excellent communication/interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to use your own initiative to solve problems as they arise.

The post holder will possess excellent time management skills, be well organised and have the ability to prioritise workload demands to meet deadlines, whilst producing work to the highest standards.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good standard of Education / GCSE maths, English at grade C and above or equivalant valent
  • NVQ level 2 or equivalent knowledge and experience or willing to work towards
  • L2 RSA / OCR or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • IT related qualification CLAIT plus or ECDL NVQ customer service
  • Medical terminology and Mandatory training as per health board policy

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge and range of administrative process
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in office environment, experience of working within the NHS

Aptitude and Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all level of staff both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to changing service demands
  • Ability to meet deadlines
Desirable criteria
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft office applications
