Job overview

We are looking for a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our School Aged Service in a varied and diverse role!

Our School Aged Service offers an exciting range of commissioned and core opportunities, allowing you to develop specialist clinical skills while contributing to service-wide initiatives.

In this role you will:

  • Deliver commissioned work at Baytree Special School, supporting children and young people across both the Clevedon and Worle sites (3 Band 6 sessions per week).
  • Provide core input to North Somerset Special School (1 Band 6 session per week).
  • Be part of our Band 6 Training Team (0.2 WTE), helping to shape and deliver training across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

This unique blend of clinical and developmental work offers excellent variety, autonomy and the chance to make a meaningful impact across multiple settings.

Main duties of the job

Baytree Special School (Clevedon and Worle sites)
Provide a bespoke Speech and Language Therapy service to primary and secondary-aged pupils within a specialist school environment. You will work collaboratively with education staff, families and the wider multidisciplinary team to support children and young people with a range of speech, language and communication needs, enabling them to achieve their full potential within their educational setting.

North Somerset Special School
Deliver our core Special School offer, providing specialist assessment, intervention and advice for children and young people with complex communication needs. This includes supporting pupils with dysphagia and AAC  requirements, working closely with school staff and carers to promote safe eating, drinking and effective communication.

Training Team (0.2 WTE)
Contribute to the development, delivery and evaluation of a wide range of evidence-based training, modelling and support packages for education staff and parents across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. Training is delivered through a blend of online and face-to-face methods and aims to build confidence, knowledge and skills in supporting children's speech, language, communication and feeding needs.

This varied role offers the opportunity to combine specialist clinical practice, multi-agency working and workforce development, making a meaningful difference to children, young people and those who support them.
