Gambling Harms Mental Health Nurse

Band 5

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 nurse, within the newly formed All Wales Gambling Harms Service.  Working as part of the wider Substance Misuse Service, the successful candidate will be part of a remote team, supporting service users throughout the population of Wales, along the defined pathway.

Working remotely from your home location, the successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of comprehensive assessment to individuals seeking support with gambling addiction.  The post holder will manage a case load and support individuals through their treatment journey within the service, to include risk assessment, provision of advice, and signposting as appropriate.

Please note: This vacancy may close early if a high volume of applications is received.  We recommend submitting your application as early as possible.

Main duties of the job

Please note for Welsh students, you must apply via Streamlining where all available jobs can be located.

The service requires timely, structured assessment of individuals presenting with gambling-related harm, including screening for co-occurring mental health needs, substance use, physical health concerns and risk. A Band 5 registrant will provide safe, competent assessment, ensuring early identification of risk and appropriate allocation within the stepped care model.

This role will support access times to service, support flow from referral to treatment, and reduce pressure on senior clinicians by undertaking routine assessments and contributing to care planning under supervision of the Band 7/8a.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
