The salary scale for a Band 3 has been adjusted as part of the NHS Agenda for Change pay award for 2026/2027 and will be implemented in August 2026 backdated to 01 April 2026 where applicable.

 

Job overview

To provide clerical support to the Child Health Department mainly within the school-age department. The role involves: filing of essential paperwork into physical notes, these include clinic letters, sensitive reports, and consent forms.  Creating new Child Health records, both electronically and manually, data inputting on the Child Health computer system, updating child health records, photocopying and distribution and checking of letters, Opening post. Strict confidentiality will be maintained at all times.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide clerical and administrative support to the Child Health Department, primarily within the School-Age Service.
  • File clinic letters, consent forms, sensitive reports, and other essential documentation into patient notes.
  • Create and maintain Child Health records both electronically and manually.
  • Input, update, and verify information on the Child Health computer system.
  • Ensure patient records are accurate, complete, and up to date.
  • Photocopy, prepare, and distribute correspondence and other departmental documentation.
  • Check letters and documentation for accuracy before distribution.
  • Open, sort, and distribute incoming post.
  • Retrieve and store patient records in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Handle confidential and sensitive information in line with NHS policies and data protection requirements.
  • Assist with general office administration to support the efficient running of the Child Health Department.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and healthcare professionals to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Maintain high standards of confidentiality, professionalism, and accuracy at all times.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
