Job overview
Bedfordshire Community Health Services is looking for Band 5 Podiatrist who is passionate and committed to providing high quality care to join our team in Bedfordshire.
Our Podiatry service is a diverse, supportive and innovative team and our work has been included in 3 national guides published by NHS England and NHS Benchmarking. This has included :-
· Collaborative care home training project tackling pressure ulcer prevention and diabetic foot disease
· Diabetes transformation reducing amputations and bed nights,
· The role of podiatry in primary care.

As a newly qualified practitioner you will have access to an AHP Preceptorship Programme and you will be assigned a preceptor in addition to a line manager who will provide regular supervision and support.
You will also receive close clinical monitoring and supervision, clinical rotations and competency support and sign of. We have also recently developed training posts to support transition in to the next stage of your career in a safe and competent way.
Main duties of the job
To organise and manage a clinical caseload, which will include gaining further experience of providing podiatric care for patients with diabetic, rheumatological and biomechanical problems.
To assess diagnose, develop and implement individualised treatment programmes for patients with a wide variety of clinical needs, including acute or chronic neuropathies, chronic diseases, vascular problems and wound management.
To provide appropriate education to patients with diverse foot pathology and utilise analytical and reasoning skills in this process, In order to empower the patient and others to participate in the patients self care.
To gain postgraduate experience during the period of mentorship in diabetes, rheumatology, biomechanics, tissue viability, nail surgery and wound management.

- HCPC registered
- BSc/BSc (Hons) or Diploma in Podiatry or equivalent qualification
- Local Analgesia Certificate

- Evidence of CPD

- Previous clinical NHs experience as a student or newly qaulified
Knowledge and Skills

- IT Literate
- Good verbal and written communication skills

- Enthusiasm for the profession
- Requirement to travel across the geographical area, transporting equipment needed for patient treatment.
