Job overview
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Clinical Specialist Nurse based at Lanchester Road Hospital, Durham.
The Clinical Specialist will provide highly skilled, specialist clinical leadership within the CAMHS Intensive Home Treatment (IHT) service, supporting the delivery of safe, effective and responsive mental health care to children and young people experiencing significant or acute mental health difficulties. Undertaking complex clinical assessments, formulation, risk assessment and risk management, working collaboratively with young people, families and the wider professional network to develop and implement individualised care and treatment plans. They will provide specialist clinical advice and guidance to colleagues and partner agencies, supporting effective clinical decision-making and the delivery of evidence-based interventions.

Main duties of the job
Working as a senior member of the multidisciplinary team, the Clinical Specialist will contribute to the coordination and oversight of intensive home-based interventions, including supporting young people who may otherwise require hospital admission. The role will involve close partnership working with families, schools, social care, community CAMHS services and other agencies to ensure effective communication, continuity of care and coordinated multi-agency responses.
The Clinical Specialist will also contribute to the development and improvement of the IHT service, supporting clinical governance, quality improvement, audit, supervision and the development of staff.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Current Professional Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council - RNMH / RNLD/ (RNSC - CAMHS Only)
- Recognised Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor
- Trained in Clinical Supervision and be providing Clinical Supervision
- And have Professional clinical knowledge and experience acquired through degree (or equivalent post registration study), supplemented by specialist training, experience, short courses at level 7 see below
- For example Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma/Masters Degree, Intermediate Systemic Family Therapy/Postgraduate diploma in CBT/British Isles Dialectical Behaviour Therapy /NMP (Independent Prescriber), Psychosocial Interventions
- And have Equivalent significant clinical experience such as working (minimum of 2 years) as a band 6 (or above) in relevant clinical area, together with evidence of relevant CPD to Level 7 or equivalent

- Significant experience working with patients who display risk behaviours
- Significant experience working with patients who display risk behaviours
- Clinical risk assessment and management and its application in practice

Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Extensive knowledge of current issues relating to health needs of patients in the field of practice, regionally and nationally
- Understanding and working knowledge of the legal framework and statutory obligations under the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act
- Detailed understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice
- Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice
- Clinical Governance and its application in practice
- Working knowledge of clinical medicines management
- Understanding of Psychosocial models of care and treatment (depending on specialist area)
