Job overview
We are looking to employ a hardworking, conscientious individual who will work as Team Administrator within Central Durham Adult community mental health team at Kirkstone Villa, Lanchester Road Hospital Durham.
The successful candidate will be required to deal with both incoming and outgoing telephone calls, aspects of diary management, arranging meetings and general office duties.
You must have the Right to Work in the UK in order to be successfully appointed to this role. Please note, this role does not meet the required eligibility criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa and therefore the Trust is unable to offer sponsorship for this particular role.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will ideally have an awareness of mental health issues and will be able to demonstrate a caring and sensitive approach to their work. They will have an eye for detail and a high degree of accuracy. They will be able to effectively and clearly communicate with colleagues, service users and their families.
As a team player, you’ll be able to prioritise your work in order to meet deadlines and have a customer focused approach. Previous experience of working within the NHS is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
You are required to hold a Level 3 qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience or willingness to work towards this. Key skills in literacy and numeracy Level 2 or O Level / GCSE in Maths and English grade C or above are required. Experience of working in a administrative environment and be proficient in the use of MS Office with experience of patient records systems are required.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Level 3 Qualification in relevant field or equivalent experience or willingness to work towards Level 3 in Business Administration.
- Key skills/functional skills in literacy and numeracy Level 2 OR O Level (Grade C and above/New GCSE in Maths and English (Grade 4 to 9) are an essential requirement to be fully competent in the role.
Desirable criteria
- Level 3 in Business Administration.
- RSA Level 2 or equivalent Secretarial/administrative experience in a clinical environment.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in an administrative environment (diary management, filing systems, meeting coordination, minute talking, data input, collating and presenting information).
- Customer Service experience (face to face, answering calls, correspondence).
- Experience of organising completing demands and workloads.
- Experience of setting up and maintenance of administrative systems and processes.
- Experience of working autonomously and proactively.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of supporting/supervising staff.
- Experience of handling monies and working within financial guidelines
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Understanding of data protection and the need for confidentiality and how to maintain this.
