The County Durham Resilience Service is a partnership with the Pioneering Care Partnership (PCP), Voluntary Sector organisations and Tees, Esk and Wear Valley NHS Foundation Trust. Here is an opportunity to join us as an Assistant Psychologist. The team was established to respond to the impact of Covid in the local population of Durham and wider frontline workers.  The team has now transitioned to be a generalised Resilience service, helping clients with a range of difficulties.

The post holder will work under the supervision of the Lead psychologist. Responsibilities will include conducting and producing reports, contributing to the psychological assessments, assessments of mental health and wellbeing and adjustment, participation in the multi-agency meetings and supporting service development and evaluation. The post holder will deliver 1:1 therapy and psych-education groups. The post is across the Country Durham and Darlington area and involves working across voluntary sector and community sites, as well as having a base at Lancaster Road Hospital in Durham. Applicants will be required to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. 

Applicants must ensure that prior to applying they have agreement from their current line manager that they can be released on a secondment basis. In the event that permanent funding is secured for this post the successful applicant will be confirmed in post on a permanent basis.

The post holder will have the opportunity to work in a stimulating environment, working in partnership with the voluntary sector, psychology and staff supporting rehabilitation. The team has strong connections with local assets and interface with access hubs to wider IAPT, long COVID clinics and community mental health services. The team promoting the mental health and wellbeing of adults in the County Durham area, delivering an agile and responsive service.   • Eligible for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society

  • Post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis.

Experience

  • Some experience of people using services in psychological, mental health and/or social care settings. This may include, for example, personal experience or supporting a family member to access services.
  • Experience in discussing and responding to issues related to cultural diversity, intersectionality and inclusivity, including working with vulnerable groups (e.g. those for whom English is not their first language).
