Job overview

We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a Senior Dietitian to join our dynamic Dietetics Team within Secure Inpatient Services at Roseberry Park, Middlesbrough. This pivotal role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact across Low and Medium Secure Services, supporting both male and female service users.

As a Senior Dietitian, you will deliver specialist, evidence-based interventions focused on physical health conditions for patients with Severe Mental Illness, Learning Disabilities, and Autism—all within a forensic setting. Your expertise will contribute to improving outcomes for a population with complex needs

Main duties of the job

We’re seeking a skilled, enthusiastic, and forward-thinking Registered Dietitian with clinical experience in Weight Management, Type 2 Diabetes, and related obesity comorbidities. You’ll collaborate closely with the multi-disciplinary team (MDT), external partners, and stakeholders, playing a key role in service development, training delivery, and student mentorship. Our Dietetics team is proud to be the largest, most established Specialist Mental Health and Learning Disability Dietetics team in the UK, we have strong professional ties to the British Dietetic Association.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Appropriate professional qualification in Dietetics
  • Current relevant registration with specific regulatory body
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) level 7 (SLT =8) for International recruits
Desirable criteria
  • Post graduate training in relevant specialist area

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Understand the needs of service users with mental health conditions or Learning Disabilities.
  • Legal literacy (social work only remove for others)
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of evidence based practice in designated specialist area.
  • Post graduate training in specialist area if applicable to post (e.g. dysphagia, autism diagnostics)
  • Awareness of professional standards and its application to practice

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum 12 months post qualifying experience of Dietetic delivery /completion of AYSE for social work (post 2012) pre 2012 evidence of experience in accordance with professional capabilities framework for an experienced social worker
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of supporting people with mental health issues, learning disability or autism
  • Experience of working in Multidisciplinary Team (SW essential criteria)
  • Clinical risk assessment and application in practice
  • Experience of managing complex Dietetic cases

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Able to prioritise and manage caseload affectively
