Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Systemic Family Therapist to join our Selby CAMHS team at a truly exciting time in our service development. This Band 7 role offers the opportunity to play a central part in shaping and delivering high‑quality family therapy interventions for children, young people and those who support them. You will bring curiosity, compassion and systemic thinking to a team that is committed to collaborative practice and continuous improvement. Working within a motivated and supportive multidisciplinary service, you will contribute to the emotional wellbeing of young people by offering highly specialist systemic assessments, interventions, consultation and formulation within a CAMHS context.

This role may be eligible for sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route. However, sponsorship can only be provided where applicants meet the specific requirements, therefore, we recommend that you assess your eligibility before applying for this position. Main duties of the job

In this role, you will carry a defined caseload and provide specialist systemic assessment and therapy to young people and families presenting with a broad range of needs, including complex and challenging presentations. You will work autonomously while remaining embedded within a collaborative multidisciplinary structure, drawing on systemic theory to guide clinical decision‑making and support staff in thinking holistically about the difficulties young people face. A key focus of the role will be offering systemic consultations to colleagues, contributing to shared formulations, and supporting teams to develop relationally‑informed approaches to care. You will also provide teaching, reflective space and clinical supervision in systemic practice as appropriate, helping to develop the capabilities and confidence of the wider workforce.

Working for our organisation

Selby CAMHS is a warm, values‑driven and forward‑thinking service that places children, young people and families at the heart of everything we do. As part of Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust, you will be joining an organisation committed to Our Journey to Change — a shared ambition to provide safe, compassionate and high‑quality care by living our values of respect, compassion and responsibility. Our team is collaborative, creative and always striving to learn. You will be supported through high‑quality clinical supervision, strong professional networks and a range of development opportunities. We encourage curiosity, co‑creation and innovation, and we welcome colleagues who bring fresh ideas and a passion for improving the experiences and outcomes of the communities we serve.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for delivering specialist systemic psychotherapy to children, young people and families, drawing upon a robust understanding of systemic theory and evidence based practice. You will undertake specialist systemic assessments, develop and implement formulations and intervention plans, and work closely with other professionals to ensure coherent and coordinated care. The role includes contributing to safeguarding assessments, undertaking risk assessments, and maintaining high professional and clinical standards in line with relevant legislation, governance processes and professional codes of practice. You will provide systemic consultation and advice to staff from a range of disciplines, helping to enrich shared understandings of complex presentations and enhance the therapeutic environments in which care is delivered. Additionally, you will contribute to service development through participation in audit, research, policy development and service improvement projects, and will support ongoing learning through teaching, supervision and reflective practice. Throughout your work, you will uphold the Trust’s values and commitment to personalised, collaborative and relationally informed care.
