Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an authentic, confident and experienced Nurse to join our Senior Team as Deputy Director of Nursing and Quality for a period of six months. They will provide proficient leadership, guidance, and pace to drive the Trusts response to the Nursing and Quality strategy and provide professional guidance and support to our clinical teams.
The right candidate will be able to demonstrate insight and experience of multi-disciplinary working and decision making at senior leadership level, be people focused, collaborative in the delivery of change and have an in depth understanding and experience of Quality management.
We are looking for a senior leader who has the confidence and experience to work within an ever-changing operational landscape while maintaining direction and focus on the Clinical group strategic objectives.
Main duties of the job
- Delivering corporate responsibilities for their portfolio, working collaboratively, as part of the senior leadership team within the Trust supporting the delivery of key objectives and strategic goals.
- Delivery of agreed set objectives as set by the Director of Nursing and Quality.
- Working with the Director of Nursing and Quality, Chief AHP, Medical Director and Heads of Service, the post holder will take day to day responsibility for key work-streams that support the delivery of the Trust objectives, with particular focus on providing Nursing advice and support.
- To provide credible and visible professional clinical leadership and line management to defined teams within the Corporate Quality portfolio, supporting, co-ordinating and assuring CQC, ICS and whole system work on improving the patient outcomes, clinical assurance, patient safety and improvement

Essential criteria
- Masters in a Health-Related Subject or equivalent demonstrable experience supplemented by specialist training, experience or short courses to doctorate level or equivalent
- NMC Registered Nurse
- Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to post
- Post graduate Leadership training/ development course
- Project management / service improvement Qualification i.e. : Prince 2
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in a variety of settings with extensive Senior Nursing operational & managerial experience within a large NHS provider Trust, managing Directorate or multidisciplinary site
- Experienced operational service manager, familiar with managing capacity and demand for patient services within an NHS patient services organisation / and the operational service impact on the professional Nursing agenda
- Evidence and experience in delivering Nursing performance ie: strategic safe staffing and skill mix reviews, infection control, risk management, complaints and adverse incidents
- Demonstrate experience in the redesign and development of services, together with practical experience in leading the necessary changes to implement
Knowledge and Skills
Essential criteria
- Demonstrate experience of the NHS strategic agenda together with an understanding of the current issues in nursing policy and practice
- Understanding of the regulatory and statutory frameworks associated with NHS operating environment
- Understanding of the local health economy
- Ability to use own judgement often in difficult circumstances or when under pressure due to conflicting opinion or where or complex information is provided
- Demonstrate an understanding on workforce capacity / capability issues and how these relate to patient care quality and safety
