Job overview
This post is Fixed term/Secondment for 12 months (15.03.2027) to meet the needs of the service.
There is an identical role on NHS jobs and we will consider applications for part time hours between the two. Please ensure to apply for both roles.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Therapies Assistant within the North Wales wide Level 3 Weight Management for Children and Young People team based at St Asaph.
The service is looking for a highly motivated individual with a passion for helping children and families. The successful applicant will have a background or interest in nutrition and/or physical activity and a natural quality improvement approach
Main duties of the job
The assistant will encourage children and families to increase their activity levels and make healthy food and lifestyle choices.
They will help children engage and set small, sustainable goals to improve their health whilst they attend the 12 month Help Me To Be Healthy programme.
The role will include delivering group sessions remotely via MS Teams (nutrition, lifestyle and exercise), administration, some 1:1 telephone support and close liaison with the wider multidisciplinary team.
Obesity in children is multifactorial so a flexible, empathetic approach is needed to tailor support for each child and address their specific needs.
The assistant will help the wider team support ongoing changes which will ultimately enable beneficial outcomes for the children on the programme.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Quality Credit Framework qualification at level 3 e.g. NVQ related to Health & Social Care, or working towards, (or equivalent); Documented evidence of participation in training activities
Desirable criteria
- Membership of professional body and/or special interest group. Degree in nutrition related subject.
Experience / Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Understanding of the role of the Dietitian. Relevant experience working within health, social or education settings. Basic knowledge of some conditions that could impact upon nutrition and weight in adults, relevant to the role. Self-motivation for Continued Professional Development
Desirable criteria
- Experience in working directly with people. Experience in clinical and/ or catering establishment. Basic knowledge of the principles of Clinical Governance. Awareness of Health & Safety legislation & practices.
