Job overview

The Speech and Language Therapy department at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist.

We are looking for a dynamic Speech and Language Therapist to join our supportive and experienced team. This is a 0.8 (4 days) permanent post and the ability to speak Welsh is essential.

As a successful candidate you will have a recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree and HCPC registration. However, we will consider applications from final year Speech and Language Therapy students. We would consider appointing the successful candidate on reduced hours and at band 4 until completion of their degree course and full qualification as a Speech and Language Therapist is obtained.

Main duties of the job

  • You will work through the medium of both Welsh and English across both Conwy and Denbighshire.
  • You will work with a varied Paediatric caseload, working with pre-school and school-aged children, in a range of settings including community clinics and Primary and Secondary mainstream schools.
  • You will be responsible for assessing, and designing intervention for children with a range of SLCN on your caseload.
  • You will plan and prioritise your own workload, and develop appropriate strategies for caseload management
  • You will have the opportunity to work directly with children and young people as well as provide training, advice and support to school staff and the wider workforce.
  • You will work in partnership with families and professionals to support the needs of the children on your caseload.
  • You will have an opportunity to be involved in projects which contribute to service development.
  • Work closely with the wider Multi-disciplinary Teams. 

North Wales is a beautiful part of the world in which to live and work, with easy access to stunning beaches, mountains and historic towns. You will have the opportunity to work in both rural villages and towns. Applicants must be able to travel between sites.

The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this post.
