Job overview

The post holder will undertake a variety of administrative duties to support the accurate and efficient management of outpatient appointments. This includes using the electronic Referral System (eRS) and coordinating clinic schedules to ensure smooth service delivery.

They will be required to work in accordance with Government Access Targets, maintaining precise administration of patient pathways. Key responsibilities include collecting and entering essential data into electronic systems and ensuring that patient records remain current, accurate, and complete at all times.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking applications from motivated individuals to join our team in providing high‑quality administrative support for outpatient bookings. The successful candidate will carry out a variety of tasks to ensure the accurate and efficient management of outpatient appointments. This will include using the electronic Referral System (eRS) and coordinating clinic schedules to support smooth service delivery.

The post holder will be required to work in line with Government Access Targets, ensuring the precise administration of patient pathways. Responsibilities will include collecting and entering essential data into computerised systems and maintaining accurate, up‑to‑date patient information at all times.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Previous administrative or clerical experience

  • Knowledge of patient record systems/databases, with proven practical experience

  • Excellent keyboard and IT skills, including experience in maintaining and administering databases

  • Strong organisational abilities, with the capacity to meet deadlines and work independently

  • Well‑developed interpersonal and communication skills, with a positive and professional approach

  • Dependable, with a flexible attitude and the ability to adapt to service needs

Desirable

  • Understanding of the NHS 18‑week Referral to Treatment (RTT) pathway

  • Previous experience working within healthcare services
