Job overview

We are looking for a Band 7 radiographer to join our expanding team at this exciting time. Due to a relocation of services, we are opening 2 brand new hybrid theatres within our new hospital wing - both with brand new imaging equipment. As the hub of the vascular services for Bedfordshire and Luton, these hybrid theatres will undertake the vascular intervention cases along with facilitating interventional radiology procedures.  We are looking for an experienced radiographer in interventional procedures and another specialty. 

 

Main duties of the job

To take an active part in the provision of service in Vascular Imaging and/or  (CT) (MRI) and/or (Radiography and Fluoroscopy) and/or (Nuclear Medicine) and/or (DEXA) and/or (Cardiac Imaging) (no more than two specialised modalities will be expected in a specific job description) whilst maintaining the highest standards of imaging and patient care at all times.  To be a good example to and train radiographers, student radiographers and other health care workers and help them to develop into skilled considerate workers. To supervise staff within the clinical environment and to deputise for the Modality Manager in their absence.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

1.    To carry out clinical (CT) and/or (MRI) and/or (Radiography and Fluoroscopy) and/or (Nuclear Medicine) and/or (DEXA) and/or (Cardiac and Vascular Imaging) and other specialised modality imaging to produce diagnostic information as required by current protocols.

2.    To be a specialist in carrying out and supervising complex imaging.

3.    To deputise for the Modality Manager in their absence.

4.    To ensure that all examinations are justified as per the IRMER 2000 Regulations and fulfil the role of operator. Ensure radiation dose levels are as low as reasonably practical.

5.    To maintain the highest standard of practical and theoretical knowledge to ensure a standard of excellence specialised modality techniques, so that protocols may be modified in an appropriate manner in view of clinical indications, imaging findings or patient condition and problems in image quality are recognised and acted upon.

6.    To be aware of Health and Safety at Work Act and ensure the guidelines are followed.

7.    To be fully aware of the potential hazards of working in an area and to be familiar with the safety guidelines.

8.    To be fully aware of the potential bio-effects of the imaging technique and to ensure that the equipment is used within safe limits at all times. To act at all times with consideration for the safety and welfare of patients.

  • HCPC and extensive experience in vascular/IR or cath lab
Desirable criteria
  • Vascular experience

  • Certificate in cannulation

  • Post graduate study in Imaging to MSc level or equivalent

Knowledge

  • Professional knowledge across the spectrum of cross-sectional/ specialised procedures
