Senior Therapy Support Worker - Stroke

Band 3

Job overview

We’re delighted to be recruiting an enthusiastic Therapy Support Worker to join our dynamic Stroke and Neuro Therapy Team at Luton and Dunstable Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dedicated service based on the stroke ward, working closely with a skilled and supportive multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional care throughout each patient’s inpatient journey.

In this role, you’ll play a vital part in providing timely, person‑centred rehabilitation that helps patients reach their full potential during the acute phase of their stroke recovery, as well as supporting medical patients on the ward. Your days will be varied and rewarding, offering rehabilitation through one‑to‑one sessions, joint working, group activities and drop‑in support. You’ll be fully supported by our experienced neuro team and have access to the wider therapy service, ensuring you’re never without guidance, collaboration or opportunities to grow.

We’re genuinely excited to hear how your skills, passion and experience align with what we’re looking for. As this vacancy may close once we receive a sufficient number of applications, we encourage you to apply early to avoid missing out.

We look forward to hearing from you and hopefully welcoming you to our team.

Main duties of the job

  • To undertake specific skilled support work to aid the rehabilitation of patients as delegated by the Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist or Speech and Language Therapist.
  • To accept patients referred by the Multi-disciplinary Team and relay all necessary information to the therapists to allow timely interventions.
To accept patients referred by a qualified Therapist, treat them according to set treatment protocols, monitor progression and make alterations, within agreed parameters.
  • Work is not always directly supervised but is evaluated and monitored daily. Access to qualified staff is always available if required. Patients progress to be reported back on a timely basis.
  • To assist in the administration and clerical duties of the team.
  • To develop and maintain competencies through Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
