Are you an experienced Occupational Therapist looking for a varied role in physical rehab? Are you looking to progress your career to the next step within a role that can offer you consistent personal and professional development?

We are looking for an experienced, qualified Occupational Therapist to join our inpatient Assessment and rehabilitation centre team based at St Marks in Maidenhead / Upton Hospital in Slough.

We are a multi-disciplinary team working to support adults (age 18+) with a variety of neurological, orthopaedic and cognitive difficulties who require more therapy time before being discharged. You will manage a caseload of varied, complex needs patients, provide assessments, personalised care plans and additional support as well as assisting patients with setting and achieving rehab goals.

We are big on staff development and are keen to support you with any additional training and development goals you may have. We can also offer you the opportunity to shadow in ICB acute wards.

The service operates 08:00 – 16:00 6 days per week and you will work on a rota basis. Averagely you will work 1 in 6 Saturdays. We are open to applications from those looking for both full and part time hours.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide clinical leadership and specialist advice, through supervision, education of students, Band 5, Occupational Therapy Assistants, support workers and other members of the interdisciplinary team
  • To be responsible for a highly complex caseload using an interdisciplinary, patient focused rehabilitative approach
  • To identify service developments, needs, contribute to the planning, development and evaluation of the service and have responsibility for defined projects
  • To provide specialised Occupational Therapy input to a rehabilitation ward
  • To participate and contribute to the Interdisciplinary Team decision making process regarding patient care, establishing strong communication networks

Essential criteria
  • Diploma/ Degree in Occupational therapy

Training

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of training in rehabilitation of older people.
  • Training in the equipment needs of older people.
  • Understanding of the models used in Occupational Therapy.

Additional Requirements

Essential criteria
  • Ability to travel between multiple sites efficiently
  • Ability to drive
  • Have access to car

Previous Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in a rehabilitation or intermediate care NHS or Social Services setting.
  • Experience of working in a multi disciplinary team setting.
  • Experience of liaising with Social Care in the UK
