Our Wheelchair Service are looking to recruit a Wheelchair Rehabilitation Technician. We will offer excellent in-service training, one to one clinical development and regular peer support with in-service training offered by our supportive team to ensure you achieve your competencies.
This role would suit someone with experience or keen interest in mechanical engineering, excellent communication skills, a team player who will enjoy working in a dynamic and evolving service and above all has a passion for supporting patients with complex needs.
As part of your role, you will be working alongside a specialist team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Technicians and Rehabilitation Engineer, supported by a great administration team. We are a well-established and welcoming team that would love to have you join.
East Berkshire Specialist Wheelchair Service provides wheelchairs and specialist seating to a broad range of people (adults and children) including those with complex disabilities from our newly renovated location at 3 Abell Gardens in Maidenhead. We work on a Monday through Friday basis, with no on call or weekend work so that you can have a fantastic work life balance.

Main duties of the job

Providing technical support on wheelchair across multi-disciplinary team in clinic and in the patient’s home

Setting up, delivering and handing over manual wheelchair equipment, accessories to clients as directed by Therapists and Engineers.

Carrying out selective mechanical and software modifications to wheelchairs

Managing stock in line with therapists, patients and clinical requirements

Providing support in the moving and handling of patients and equipment

Working with patients, relatives and carers within a multi-disciplinary team and in partnership with professionals in health, social care, education and charities as well as with specialist providers and technicians

- NVQ level 3 in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience

- Demonstrates ability to self-manage workload and complexity in order to operate effectively
