Are you a newly qualified or soon to qualify Occupational Therapist looking for a varied role in physical rehab? Are you looking for a role that can offer you consistent personal and professional development?

We are looking for a qualified Occupational Therapist to join our Assessment and rehabilitation centre team based at St Marks in Maidenhead / Upton Hospital in Slough.

We are a multi-disciplinary team working to support adults (age 18+) with a variety of neurological, orthopaedic and cognitive difficulties who require more therapy time before being discharged. You will provide assessments, personalised care plans and additional support as well as assisting patients with setting and achieving rehab goals.

We are big on staff development and will help you through your band 5 competencies as well as supporting you with any additional training and development goals you may have. We can also offer you the opportunity to shadow in ICB acute wards.

The service operates 08:00 – 16:00 6 days per week and you will work on a rota basis. Averagely you will work 1 in 6 Saturdays. We are open to applications from those looking for both full and part time hours.

  • Assist patients throughout the reablement process  
  • Assist patients in achieving their agreed goals 
  • Evaluate care plans and report back progress to relevant professionals suggesting appropriate changes to planned care as required 
  • Work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and assess patients in the most appropriate environment 
  • Assess the activities of daily living for patients referred and implement rehabilitation programmes 
  • Regularly evaluate treatment programmes and update documentation

Continuous Professional Development

  • Understanding of the models used in Occupational Therapy

Previous Experience

  • Experience of working in a rehabilitation or intermediate care setting.
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team setting

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • To work autonomously, plan and organise own workload

  • Ability to reflect and critically appraise own performance

Additional Requirements

  • Must be a car driver
  • Must have access to a suitable car for work purposes
  • Must be physically able to load/unload equipment in and out of a car boot (following individual and specific risk assessment).
  • Ability to work flexibly as part of a 6-day rota.
