Job overview
An opportunity has arisen within the dermatology department for a band 5 developmental role into a band 6.
The post holder will be supported to undertake in-house trainings/ competency framework within 18 months of appointment that support the developmental role. On completion and sign off the competencies the post holder will be upskilled to a band 6.
The post holder will work as a skilled practitioner and is responsible for the delivery of patient-focused programmes of care, which address the complex and changing health and wellbeing needs of patients with dermatology related conditions.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide high quality essential care to patients with dermatological conditions in a caring, compassionate and sensitive manner.
The post holder will:
Provide high quality clinical practice. Be proactive in clinical decision making, underpinned by theoretical and practical knowledge and be able to demonstrate improved patient care outcomes.
Take designated responsibility for discrete areas of operational management/clinical practice.
Support change, monitor and improve standards through supervision, evidence-based practice, clinical audit, research, and education. To promote and demonstrate best practice by integrating evidence into practice.
Undertake holistic assessment of patients and carers needs. This will involve planning, implementing, and evaluating the care delivery according to changing healthcare needs.
Demonstrate sound knowledge in relation to pattern of dermatology conditions, markers of condition progression and range of treatment available at each stage of condition.

Experience
Essential criteria
- Demonstrable experience of managing a varying aspects of a patient’s care
- Experience of working in partnership with all levels of staff, evidencing the ability to plan and co-ordinate the provision of care
Desirable criteria
- Experience of developing and implementing policies and protocols
- Ability to work unsupervised and on own initiative, as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Healthcare Professional (NMC)
- First Level degree (HEI Level 6) or equivalent, in undergraduate base profession
Desirable criteria
- Specialist post-graduate education / Qualifications, or training relevant to Dermatology.
- Other training relevant to area clinical practice (e.g. British Dermatological Nursing Group (BDNG) British Association of Dermatologist BAD )
