Job overview

This is an excellent opportunity for a local GP with an interest in dermatology to join our integrated, consultant-led dermatology team.

We are a department with 6 substantive consultants, 3 registrars on the Oxford training rotation, 2 clinical fellow, a dermatology pharmacist, nurse consultant and 5 dermatology specialist nurses. We also have visiting consultants from Oxford and Kings, London as well as several longstanding Locum Consultants. We already have several GPwER team members within the team who work in a variety of areas within dermatology.

We have a strong track record over two decades of working with local GP’s in the department, initially as clinical assistants and more recently GPwERs. We also engage actively with our primary care colleagues though our GP outreach work.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates would have on-the-job clinical training.  We feel that previous dermatology experience is essential, alongside a desire to learn dermatology, be part of a lively team and provide dermatology services to the local population.

Due to our advanced EPR and letter dictation programmes, administration burden is minimal but admin time will be allocated to support each clinic worked as part of the job plan.

We run a large number of specialist dermatology clinics (including acne, vulval, paediatric, male genital, rheumatology and biologic clinics). We would encourage sucessful applicants to consider whether they would like to work in one of these specialist areas as part of their job plan.

Attendance at 4 skin cancer MDT meetings per year is strongly recommended for any GPwER seeing skin cancer patients. These meetings run every Thursday morning, 8.30-9.30am. These can be joined virtually via microsoft TEAMS.

We would encourage successful candidates to join the Primary care Dermatology Society (PCDS) and undergo several hours of dermatology CPD per year.

Working for our organisation

Diversity makes us interesting… Inclusion is what will make us outstanding.

Inequality exists and the journey to eliminate it is not easy. Every step we take will be a purposeful step forward to deliver a truly inclusive culture where all our people are enabled to deliver outstanding care, where background is no barrier, and where everyone can be their authentic self and we truly represent our patient community.

We are committed to equal opportunities and welcome applications from all sections of the community, regardless of any protected characteristics. Reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled applicants where possible. All applicants who have a disability and meet the minimum criteria for the post can opt for a guaranteed interview.

If you need additional help with your application please get in touch by calling the recruitment team on 0118 322 6997 or 0118 322 5342.

Our primary method of communication will be via email. However, if you would prefer to be contacted through a different method, please inform the recruitment team.
