Job overview

Band 7 Advanced Optometrist

This is a part-time post for 15 hours per week.

We are seeking to recruit an Optometrist to support our busy and growing team of 16 orthoptists and 5 optometrists.

We have sessions available that cover eye casualty,  glaucoma and core optometry, and would be keen to hear from optometrists interested in getting involved in any of these services.

The role would be based at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, with possible sessions at our other sites.

We are also keen to grow our research presence, as part of our partnership with the University of Reading. As such, we would also be interested to hear from Optometrists interested in supporting research.

Main duties of the job

As an autonomous practitioner, the Advanced Optometrist will provide high quality optometric care to patients attending the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust, and work as an effective member of the cross-site Optometry team.

You will deliver comprehensive care to patients attending the contact lens, paediatric, and refraction clinics, and may also undertake glaucoma, eye casualty and medical retina/AMD sessions.

You will also contribute towards the development of the optometry and orthoptic service.

Working for our organisation

The CQC recently rated the care provided by the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust as Good.
