Senior Physiotherapist in Respiratory Outpatients

The post is suitable for an experienced physiotherapist with experience in Respiratory and/or Pulmonary Rehabilitation. The post will involve management of people with long term lung conditions and some neuromuscular conditions that impact the respiratory system. The role will also play an integral part in the management and delivery of Pulmonary Rehabilitation.  

The successful applicant will have NHS experience within a progressive Respiratory department and possess excellent assessment, clinical reasoning, treatment, and teaching skills. You will have sound IT skills and demonstrate the Trust’s values of Compassion, Aspiration, Resourcefulness and Excellence.

Regular appraisal, supervision and support will be given and there is a requirement to actively participate in CPD and audit. You will work alongside senior colleagues to implement new initiatives to continue to develop the service in line with best practice and clinical guidelines.

Main duties of the job

As one of the first accredited PR services, the standard of care provided is a high quality. The Band 6 role is an important part of assessing and enrolling the patients, managing the programme predominantly at the RBH site, with some travel off site and ensuring the accreditation standards are continually met. 

The job will also involve routine clinic appointments both at RBH site and some of the spoke Community sites. Providing support to patient with respiratory conditions and also those with underlying neuromuscular conditions that results in respiratory impairment. Skills of respiratory assessment and treatment will need to be present.  

You will work within the wider Respiratory Physiotherapy team with experienced senior staff and be responsible for a clinical caseload as well as for supervising and developing junior staff and students. You will work closely with the MDT and community teams and contribute to the on call and weekend service.

Essential criteria
  • Degree or other recognised qualification in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC Registered Physiotherapist
  • NHS Experience across all core clinical areas
  • NHS experience within a progressive Respiratory department and possess excellent assessment, clinical reasoning, treatment and teaching skills
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of supporting students and junior members of staff
