Rotational Physiotherapist - Band 5

We are pleased to offer this exciting opportunity to come and join our team at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading.

We offer 4 month rotations covering a diverse array of specialty areas: surgery and ICU, medicine, elderly care, musculoskeletal out-patients, orthopaedics, neuro-rehab, acute stroke, paediatrics and womens health.

A 24/7 on call respiratory service and weekend service is provided by the department, which you will be expected to take part in.

Each unit provides excellent support  and all run regular in-service training programmes. We operate a buddy system to provide you with additional support. We have a well-developed performance review system in place with regular appraisals during rotations completed by senior staff.

The Trust is nationally recognised as delivering outstanding care and the Therapies service is fully focused on delivering the trusts ambition to continue to enhance this excellent work.

Main duties of the job

  • To be responsible for the efficient, effective and safe management of patients referred to you.
  • To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work.
  • To have clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients, and prioritise that work efficiently.
  • To manage clinical risk within own clinical caseload.
  • To formulate and deliver an individual physiotherapy treatment programme.
  • To have knowledge of a range of treatment skills.
  • To ensure effective discharge planning within the team.
  • To use theoretical and practical knowledge to advice, guide and teach assistants and students as required.
  • To provide recommendations and advice to the MDT.
  • The post requires a flexible approach to working and requires the post holder to undertake weekend and evening commitments as required.

Essential criteria
  • To have a degree or other recognised qualification in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC Registered
  • NHS Experience
  • Knowledge of current evidence based best practice in Physiotherapy
  • IT skills, including word processing and e-mail
Desirable criteria
  • MCSP
  • Knowledge of NHS structure
  • Training & Presentation Skills
