Advanced Sleep/Respiratory Physiologist 

The respiratory physiology department at the Royal Berkshire NHS FT provide a range of routine and advanced diagnostic tests across multiple sites in berkshire.  

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced  physiologist to join our team as an Advanced Sleep and Respiratory Physiologist.

This is a period of exciting expansion for the department and this is an opportunity for you to be involved in the continued development of a service where scientific process, data quality and patient experience are at the core of the daily activities.

 

 

 

 

Main duties of the job

To supervise the provision of diagnostic assessment, initiation of treatment and monitoring of patients in the respiratory sleep and ventilation service.

The supervision and provision of the diagnostic assessment services in Respiratory Physiology and the therapeutic monitoring of patients with lung disease.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

It is desirable for the successful applicant to have had some previous experience of home monitoring of CPAP/NIV patients, CPET and flight assessment testing.

Person specification

Education

Essential criteria
  • Scientific knowledge acquired through formal training to Clinical Physiology BSc or equivalent level.
  • Registration with RCCP/AHCS or working towards/eligible for registration.
Desirable criteria
  • Postgraduate Scientific/Clinical Qualification or working towards equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a Senior Respiratory Physiologist.
  • Experience of training and daily management of staff.
  • Experience of non-routine respiratory physiological tests (airway challenge, hypoxic challenge, CPET)
  • Experience of a sleep apnoea service.
  • Experience of service development and audit.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in spoke physiology service.
  • Experience of NIV delivery in both acute and non-acute settings.
