Job overview
Provide professional and operational leadership across a range of areas within the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion field with the aim of improving inclusion outcomes for the RBFT Staff Community and delivering an inclusive workforce culture.
Main duties of the job
- Provide expertise and specialist advice to embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) into the core function of the Trust – acting as subject matter expert on workforce inclusion.
- Provide operational support and guidance to relevant staff networks.
- Provide reports to various stakeholders across a broad range of metrics.
- Manage, appraise and develop the inclusion advisor.
- Provide operational management of the development and delivery of Trust wide action plans in in the inclusion field.
- Develop your quality improvement (improving together) A3 and all best practice activity aligned to it. Training will be provided.
- Work closely with the Head of Learning and the Associate Director Staff Experience and Inclusion as well as the Learning Manger, Digital Learning Manger and Library and Knowledge Services Manger to co-ordinate the Learning and OD services , delivery and planning.
- Work with a wide range of trust wide and external stakeholders to develop and deliver an inclusive workforce culture where every member of staff is enabled to be their best.
- Lead on a range of programs of work that will be organisation wide in their impact. This will involve leading inclusion work across a range of functions including staff engagement; learning and development; staff experience; communications; recruitment; workforce information; staff retention etc.

Key Responsibilities - Details
Service and Policy Development
Work with a wide range of stakeholders across the organisation to:
· Develop effective data collection and analysis processes to generate the evidence base for the Trust, directorates and local services to inform inclusion improvements.
· Develop effective governance systems and processes to analyse the workforce ED&I impact of both Trust wide and the People function’s activity, policies, and procedures.
· Analyse and advise the organisation of EDI implications of new national workforce policies and develop appropriate implementation strategies to promote equality within the broad parameters of National policy guidance.
· Simultaneously manage a broad range of complex programmes of work in pursuit of long term, sustained development of the organisations culture.
Workforce development
Work with the People function colleagues and trust wide senior management team to:
· Design, develop and implement strategies and programmes of work to promote equality, diversity and inclusion across all roles and job bands.
· Lead the design and implementation of appropriate development opportunities for staff at all levels to build their knowledge and capacity to operate effectively to improve ED&I outcomes.
· Regularly and directly provide, commission and engage in research collaboratives to inform improvements in the inclusion agenda.
· Lead on the development and delivery of Trust wide action plans in in the inclusion field, including key National Standards
· Develop and support a programme of celebration and recognition events marking key milestones in the inclusion calendar.
Communication
· Develop effective communication strategies to promote staff visibility and knowledge of equality and inclusion activity across the Trust and ensuring communication meets the needs of our diverse staff population.
· The post will be required to communicate across highly complex and sensitive ED&I matters with a wide range of stakeholders requiring persuasion, negotiation, empathy, compassion to ensure collaboration and any barriers to understanding are appropriately responded to.
· Regularly write complex reports and compile National and statutory returns which require a high level of concentration for a range of audiences requiring long periods of sustained mental effort; whilst experiencing frequent interruptions for advice/guidance.
· Provide first line support and guidance to staff with EDI related issues and concerns, which will frequently expose the post holder to emotional circumstances.
Stakeholder Engagement
· Develop effective engagement strategies to promote staff participation and engagement with the equality and inclusion agenda and activity across the Trust and ensure the voices of all our people are heard
· Forge links with internal services and staff groups currently under-represented in terms of engagement and visibility across the EDI field.
· Develop and involve a wide spectrum of links, including external links with a range of stakeholders involved in the EDI arena. This includes collaborative working with colleagues working across the Integrated Care System and diversity networks.
· Represent the Trust at external forums and working groups – working in partnership with other organisations
Financial and People
· To hold budgetary responsibility for the EDI service budget.
· To write business cases to access available funding streams as a regular occurrence
· Responsible for budget management of externally funded projects and report on the Return on Investment.
· Regularly manage people and projects on a matrix base when groups form to tackle a range of EDI programmes, trust wide in their scope.
· Deliver specialist training within the EDI field to a broad range of audiences.
· Coach and mentor others.
