Fixed term Band 6 role in Sexual health.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced band 6 senior sexual health nurse to join the team at Florey clinic for a fixed term to cover maternity leave.
The Florey provides an integrated service to Reading, Wokingham and West Berkshire. The level 3 service is fast paced and this is a fantastic opportunity to develop within a supportive and friendly environment.
The post holder works as a skilled practitioner and is responsible for the delivery of patient -focused programmes of care, which address the complex and changing health and wellbeing needs of the client group requiring contraceptive services and sexual health care. At this level of expertise, the post-holder is able to exercise clinical judgement and decision making about patient needs in terms of long-range goals or plans. The post holder ensures the smooth running of the department in the absence of the Departmental Sister/ Charge Nurse, works autonomously in outreach settings, and provides clinical and managerial leadership to nursing and support staff.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for developing, implementing and reviewing planned nursing care, and for the maintenance of associated records for patients in the given clinical area.
The post holder works as an effective team member, assisting in the management and the organisation of work as required. The post holder displays effective communication skills and works as a role model for good practice, supporting and developing students and more junior colleagues as required.

Education/Qualification/Training
Essential criteria
- NMC Registered Nurse or Midwife
- Accredited course in GU medicine or completion of internal development documentation
- Completed FSRH diploma or accredited university equivalent
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant post-registration experience
- Recent clinical experience in speciality area
- Experience in mentoring, facilitation, teaching, assessing, coaching
- Experience of leadership activities
Desirable criteria
- Experience of involvement Change Management
Other
Essential criteria
- Some understanding of HR Policies and Procedures
- Knowledge of COSHH procedures and Risk Management
- Good IT Skills
