Job overview

This is an exciting 12 month opportunity for a full time Occupational Therapist working 37.5 hours a week to join the Community Based Neuro Rehab Team (CBNRT) to cover maternity leave on a fixed term contract. 

CBNRT is a supportive multi-disciplinary team (MDT) who deliver high quality assessments and rehabilitation for patients who have been discharged from the Acute Stroke Units and for patients in the community with Neurological conditions who need rehabilitation. 

We are seeking a HCPC registered Band 6 Occupational Therapist but would consider a Band 5 with relevant Neuro experience or who has a keen interest to develop in Neuro Rehabilitation.  

We are looking for a professional, motivated, flexible and compassionate occupational therapist with excellent communication skills to provide specialist Neuro rehabilitation as a valued member of our MDT.  

You will be able to work as part of a team as well as have experience working independently in patients’ homes. You will be able to manage your own caseload with the support of an experienced multi-disciplinary team which includes Physiotherapists, Stroke Nurses, Speech and Language Therapists, Psychologists and Therapy Assistants.   

The post has an office base at Wokingham Hospital and at Cremyll Road in Reading. Clinical care will be provided in patients’ own homes. The successful candidate must therefore be a car driver and have access to a car.  

 

 

Main duties of the job

The role will provide specialist Occupational Therapy to adults with Neurological conditions that require Rehab as part of the community neurorehabilitation and Earlier Supported discharge team for Stroke. The post will be offered to individuals who are motivated, innovative and have experience in neurological rehabilitation to join a dynamic, client centred service that provide excellence in the rehabilitation and management of patients.

Education/Qualifications/Training

Essential criteria
  • Diploma/degree in Occupational therapy
  • HCPC Registration
  • Post-graduate training in a relevant clinical speciality
Desirable criteria
  • Formal post-graduate qualification in a relevant area
  • Membership of relevant special interest group
  • Relevant splinting course / willingness to undertake

Previous Experience

  • Post graduate experience within specialist neurological service
  • Experience of supervising staff
  • Experience of formal and informal teaching
