Job overview
To provide dispensing support to The Medicines Chest. Undertake receptionist duties and support stock control.
To ensure all work processes are carried out accurately and efficiently by following all TMC Policies, Guidelines and Departmental Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs); providing a safe and efficient service to all patients of TMC, underpinned by TMC.
Main duties of the job
Under the supervision of the lead pharmacy technician participate in the dispensing process for the Outpatient Dispensary; accurately labelling and dispensing medicines and other pharmacy products, including unlicensed and named-patient products, to fulfil all types of prescriptions.
To participate in stock control management, maintaining adequate levels of stock and preventing wastage of drugs due to expiry.
To use the current pharmacy computer system to accurately and responsibly record all issues, stock transfers and returns in order to maintain stock balances and promote efficient ordering and distribution.
At all times to comply with all relevant policies of TMC, and to ensure the maintenance of professional standards and compliance with legal requirements.
At all times to maintain the safe standards of work and a safe and appropriate environment as required by the provisions of the Medicines Act, the Health and Safety at Work Act, COSHH, and waste disposal regulations, and any other requirements that may from time to time be placed upon the department
To participate on a rota basis in the provision of the TMC pharmacy services including weekends, this time being recompensed according TMC agreements, as appropriate.

- Good time management skills, able to prioritise
- Excellent keyboard skills
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Access and Excel to manipulate data
- Ability to format and understand reports generated by computer systems

- Ability to write, understand and follow procedures
- Ability to tackle routine tasks accurately
