Job overview
An exciting secondment opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and suitably experienced Band 4 Physiotherapy Assistant to join the Musculoskeletal Outpatient Physiotherapy Service within Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for a dynamic individual who is passionate about providing a first class service to people with a variety of Musculoskeletal disorders.
Our Musculoskeletal Service is a busy and forward thinking provider of Community Outpatient Physiotherapy across 17 clinic sites in Birmingham serving a diverse population. We receive referrals for acute and chronic conditions from GPs and self referral and have Physiotherapy, Orthopaedic Triage and Pain Management Teams within our Service.
Main duties of the job
The Assistant role provides support to qualified staff in an outpatient setting, in addition to other health care related tasks and administration duties. The role works clinically under the supervision of Physiotherapists for all aspects of patient care and treatment. You will be expected to work in class settings, work with clients on a one to one basis including assessing for and providing walking aids and exercise provision, support the clinicians in clinic and be a fully flexible member of the MSK Assistant pool. The post holder would have supervisory responsibilities for the Band 3 Assistants and be involved in stock ordering and control.
Operating hours are between 7am to 7pm across the city and travel between clinics would be required. There may be the opportunity for flexible working.

Previous experience of working in a Community Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy environment would be an advantage.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
· To plan and prioritise own patient caseload in agreement with a Physiotherapy Supervisor. This will involve the implementation, assessment and progression of treatment programmes as specified by a Physiotherapist.
· To provide an unsupervised assessment for the provision of mobility aids for patients. This will be delivered primarily in Health Centres and other public settings.
· To assist Clinicians in the performance of their duties in organising and running clinics and completing therapeutic interventions.
· To undertake related clerical and administrative tasks required in order to provide an efficient and effective high quality service.
- To be responsible for stock ordering for the MSK Service.
· To be responsible for the supervision and development of Band 3 MSK assistants.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BTEC/NVQ Level III in Promoting Independence or equivalent and / or experience in multidisciplinary rehabilitation
Experience

- Demonstrates experience of working as an assistant in an adult community setting

- Experience of working in the NHS

- Good communication skills both written and verbal
