Job overview

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated medical secretary to join our team and provide secretarial support to the Consultant Psychiatrist and the medical team working  with the Warstock Lane  Community Mental Health Team.

This post will be Monday to Friday  9-5

The successful candidate must have great accuracy and attention to detail. They must have a flexible attitude with a friendly and patient centered attitude.

Main duties of the job

Duties will include transcription from digital dictation from a Consultant Psychiatrist and their medical team of doctors. The successful applicant will be a focal point for patients with queries and general medical secretary duties. Working both as a team player and independently you will need to be highly motivated, flexible and enthusiastic with excellent organisational, communication and IT skills. You will need to meet deadlines and be able to work under pressure. You must have the ability to manage your time effectively in order to meet the needs of the service.    

The post holder will be expected to have a caring, professional and empathic approach, whilst also maintaining boundaries and confidentiality

Training / Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • RSA II Typing/Text Processing or
  • AMSPAR Diploma or
  • NVQ 3 plus Medical Terminology
  • GCSE in English

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Ability to take minutes
  • Aptitude for information technology
  • Accurate (Spelling and grammar)
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in a Mental Health/Psychology or Multi-disciplinary based Service
