Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen in HMP Birmingham Healthcare for the post of Band 7 Clinical Team Leader for Birmingham Recovery Team.

The post holder will provide leadership within the HMP Birmingham’s Substance Misuse Services and report to the Service Manager.

Your portfolio will include drug and alcohol service provision across the prison. This is a clinical service including general and mental health nurses; specialist physicians; healthcare workers and working in partnership with other providers.

In return you will become part of a committed team working within HMP Birmingham and will be supported in the development of your role.

The role will include significant joint working with the Prison Mental health & Primary Care  team and Birmingham Recovery Psychosocial team,  supervising staff and supporting the Service Manager in the development of the service.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has experience as a team leader/deputy manager and who is keen to enhance and develop this area of service provision within a prison environment. 

You will receive an environmental allowance for working in a secure environment. 

Main duties of the job

It will be important to have excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for working within offender healthcare and substance misuse services. You will need to be able to show clear and effective leadership to enable the team to continue to work to high standards meeting the needs of the population within HMP Birmingham.

The role will require you to be present and available to team and to be responsive and reliable. It will also be essential to understand the pathway and have the confidence and ability to ensure that care is being delivered to a high standard.

You will be confident in the operational management of the team,  KPI requirements i.e. RTWs, Sickness and Absence, RMS/ADR. You will also oversee and manage the recruitment process for the team.
