Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Audiology team at Birmingham Children's Hospital.  This post is a 12 month fixed term contract.  You will be working alongside Audiology professionals with a wealth of experience and the role will be very varied.  The department boasts newly refurbished testing rooms and a friendly working environment with a team passionate about Paediatric Audiology and delivering a quality service for our families.

Main duties of the job

Perform Pure Tone Audiometry to BSA standards

Visual Reinforcement Audiometry

Auditory Brainstem Evoked Response Audiometry

Hearing aid assessments and reviews on children 0-16 years to include Bone Conduction, BAHA and BTE aids performing Real Ear Measurement or RECD as standard

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • MSc in Audiological Science or equivalent qualification plus experience
  • CAC or BAAT part II (or equivalent)
  • Strong audiological and scientific background
  • HPCP or AHCS registration
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Stage 1 BSL

Experience and knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of experience in all aspects of Paediatric Audiology (diagnostic and habilitation)
  • Detailed knowledge of paediatric guidelines
  • Knowledge of NHSP pathway
  • Detailed knowledge of BAHA’s, hearing aids and care pathways
  • Experience of managing a team
  • At least 2 years post qualification experience working in an NHS Hospital
  • Analytical skills to take complex information, analyse the information and implement change based on a clear analysis.
  • Strong organisational skills, methodical and systematic
  • Teaching experience and skills
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in conducting a research project
  • Experience in conducting an audit
  • Experience of public speaking
  • Experience of collecting and collaborating evidence for IQIPs
  • Experience using Auditbase
  • Presentation Skills
