Job overview

Compassionate and motivated midwife with a strong commitment to delivering safe, evidence-based, and woman-centred care across maternity services.

Experienced in supporting women with complex pregnancy needs, working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, and maintaining high standards of clinical practice in fast-paced environments. 

Keen to further develop within the role of Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner Midwife in Acute Outpatients and Maternal Medicine, with a clear understanding of the four pillars of Advanced Clinical Practice: clinical practice, leadership and management, education, and research.

Main duties of the job

Demonstrates strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills, with a proactive approach to managing complex care and promoting positive maternal outcomes.

Passionate about contributing to service improvement initiatives, supporting and educating colleagues and women in their care, and engaging in evidence-based practice to enhance quality and safety within maternity services.

A reflective and adaptable practitioner with excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills, committed to continuous professional development and delivering complex comprehensive, compassionate and holistic care.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential criteria
  • Registered Midwife
  • Midwifery degree
  • Committed to participation and completion of MSc Advanced Practice, including non-medical prescribing module within the MSc
  • Committed to participate and complete the Trust AMP competency program
  • BLS or ALS AND NLS provider

KNOWLEDGE & NATURE OF EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge, experience and competence in complex maternity care with significant midwifery experience
  • Core HDU Skills /competencies or equivalent clinical competencies/knowledge of which are relative to general maternity care, physiological changes associated with pregnancy including parameters and limitations, enhanced maternity care, pregnancy specific complexities and recognition of, and response to, the deteriorating patient
  • Evidence of maintaining clinical expertise
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of local and national policy/reviews relating to service provision for maternity services

PROFESSIONAL / MANAGERIAL / SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the audit/research process, and relevance to clinical practice
  • Evidence of service audit/quality improvement /research to improve practice
  • Evidence of application of clinical judgement and decision making to ensure outstanding patient care
  • Evidence of completion of leadership development package, or equivalent leadership role
  • Knowledge & understanding of the Framework of Advanced Practice & Four Pillars of Advanced practice
  • Proven ability to work within a multi-professional team, including evidence of regularly working with people at consultant and senior midwifery/AMP level
  • Be able to meet the demands of shift working
