The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust are looking for our next Medical Director. Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for the professional leadership of the medical and dental workforce, advise the Board on key medical issues and share collective responsibility with other Directors including the Chief Nurse and Chief Operating officer for Board decisions and their implementation in line with the Trust values.

You will champion the quality of care to our patients and wellbeing of colleagues and have a key role in improving our workforce diversity and leadership as well as improving public health inequalities, ensuring the Trust is a Centre of Excellence for all patient care across the medical and dental workforce.

Qualifications & Education

Essential criteria
  • Applicants must be Registered with the General Medical Council on the Specialist Register and hold a current Licence to Practise.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
Desirable criteria
  • Management qualification, MBA or equivalent.

Knowledge and Training

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of what the NHS constitution means to you and your responsibilities to the public, patients, and colleagues.
  • Experience in delivering revalidation, appraisal, and medical management.
  • Understanding of NHS regulatory requirements of the NHS operating framework.
Desirable criteria
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of computerised financial, management, budgetary management, and workforce information systems.
  • IT literate and able to use standard office software and bespoke systems.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant recent experience at a senior level, with responsibility for operational delivery including clinical quality, people management, budget responsibility and successful delivery of performance targets within strict financial controls.
  • Significant leadership development with a track-record for delivery.
  • Partnership working and credibility at a senior level, including significant workforce and service transformation.
  • Proven history in modernising the medical workforce and working across professions.
  • Evidence of working across the wider healthcare system.
Desirable criteria
  • Lead and demonstrate advanced project management skills.
  • imaginative and innovative in developing new ways of working to meeting patient care and service needs.

Communication & Relationship Skills

Essential criteria
  • Coaching and values led leadership style, encouraging engagement and empowerment amongst colleagues and stakeholders, and developing high performing teams.
  • A high level of communication skills, to include but not exclusively, mediation, negotiation, consultation, facilitation, presentation, training, and coaching skills using well developed interpersonal skills to influence, inform, reconcile differences, and resolve conflicts.

Analytical & Judgement Skills

Essential criteria
  • Analyse complex data and information, including preparing responses to complex reports and policies, weighing risks and forming judgements often within tight timescales. Resolving complex problems, be solution focused demonstrating a high level of persuasive and influencing skills in a fast-moving environment.
