Advanced Cardiac Physiologist - Echocardiography

Job overview

We seek an enthusiastic, flexible and highly motivated Advanced Specialist Echocardiographer to join our BSE accredited service.

The successful candidate will possess a BSc in Clinical Physiology (or equivalent), be RCCP registered, holds ILS / ALS and full adult BSE accreditation. 

Development is actively encouraged. The Echo team run a weekly review meeting supported by Consultant cardiologist.  You must demonstrate a commitment to the development of your own clinical skills and their application in the oversight, training and assessment of students, medical staff and Clinical Physiologists.

The successful candidate will be a key team member, committed to delivering a high quality service. You will be responsible for ensuring the efficient delivery of your own and department clinical workloads. Therefore you must possess excellent organisational and motivational skills and the ability to deal calmly with difficult situations.

 

 

 

Main duties of the job

Provide advanced level scanning, technical and clinical reporting skills and oversight in all echocardiology disciplines.

Provide highly specialist advice, training, mentoring, supervision and assessment in the field of echocardiography to cardiac physiology, nursing and medical staff.

Responsible on a day-to-day basis for ensuring the infrastructure and equipment of the echocardiography service is maintained in good working order and is adequate for purpose.

Maintain and develop personal, technical and managerial skills, as required, to satisfy service and personal development programme needs.

Essential criteria
  • B.SC in Clinical Science Or Clininacl physiology
  • BSE accreditation
  • RCCP /HCPC registered
  • Teaching &assessing qualifications (C&G 7307, A1)
  • Fully competent in echocardiography procedures, analysis,both technical and clinical reporting
Desirable criteria
  • Cannualation competent
  • computer, database, e-mail skills and audio visual
  • Participation in research projects/ membership of professional bodies committees

Leadership

Essential criteria
  • Appraisal skills
  • Previous experience of leadership skills
Desirable criteria
  • DSE/TOE skills

Teaching/supervising

Essential criteria
  • Teaching/training certificate's
  • Fully competent in echocardiography procedures, analysis,both technical and clinical reporting
  • Teaching &assessing qualifications (C&G 7307, A1)
Desirable criteria
  • Supervision of teaching/training in house
  • Extensive knowledge of training junior members of staff
