Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen, within the haemodialysis unit, for a trainee Haemodialysis healthcare support worker to join our established nursing team. You will be given the opportunity to learn new skills that may even support you into furthering your nursing career.
Previous experience of working in an acute haemodialysis unit essential and you must have a keen interest in dialysis.
You will be required to demonstrate a commitment to maximising the patient experience.
If you enjoy a challenge, are motivated, organised and have excellent communication skills and would like to join a dynamic and highly skilled team then this is the job for you.
You will be expected to complete your learning alongside your clinical role.
Main duties of the job
Russells Hall Renal Unit is leading the way in service provision and technical support seeking to optimise clinical treatment and enhance patient experience. The 21 haemodialysis stations within the renal unit are supported by 2 satellite units and specialist nurses in transplantation and vascular access with plans to develop the current home dialysis service.
The nursing team also provide support to the hospitals critical care areas; intensive care unit, medical high dependency unit and coronary care unit. Working alongside is a well-established peritoneal dialysis department.

Essential criteria
- GCSE pass at grade C/4 in English Language & Maths or Functional Skills level 2
- Commit to undertake in house training
- Commit to undertake care certificate
Knowledge and Training
Essential criteria
- Good organisational skills
- Reception/telephone skills
- Experience of customer care/dealing with the public
- Previous experience of working with members of the public
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of working in an acute renal unit environment
- Understanding of safeguarding issues
- Positive attitude to training a development
- A desire to work with patients requiring advanced Kidney care
Experience
