Job overview
To be responsible for leading the nursing workforce within identified clinical units to ensure the delivery of patient focussed high quality nursing care; to work across organisational boundaries to ensure services are patient responsive, ensuring the delivery of national and local strategic, operational service objectives and Trust Key Performance Indicators.
To take appropriate and effective action where any principles of care or professionalism fall below agreed, acceptable standards.

Main duties of the job

Appropriate NMC/HCPC Registration
Essential criteria
- Evidence of recent professional/management/leadership development
- Appropriate registration qualification within speciality or equivalent experience
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the key issues facing the NHS
- Extensive knowledge and experience of practice and policy across a broad range of responsibilities, e.g. financial systems and budgetary control, corporate and clinical governance, Health & Safety and Human Resources
Desirable criteria
- Experience of developing business and workforce plans in line with future service requirements.
- Strategic a business planning – able to think and plan strategically, tactfully and creatively, to gain agreement to relevant plans and to implement plans through service delivery.
- Paediatric Nurse Registration
Experience in a Deputy Matron Role
Essential criteria
- Evidence of recent professional/management/leadership development
Desirable criteria
- Experience of developing business and workforce plans in line with future service requirements.
Education and Qualifications
